I love how they're both uncomfortable with praise so they keep bouncing it back towards the other :D
I’m so grateful RDJ is sober and healthy and that we still get to have him around. So many people lose that battle to their addiction.
Mark Ruffalo really admires RDJ, and it makes RDJ slightly uncomfortable even though he's touched by it, and the whole thing is more warm than I was expecting.
Mark Ruffalo is so dear, so sincere, so kind, so wonderful, so talented, just give him his Oscar already .😊
And thus begins the most iconic year of Actors on Actors!!!
If more people saw poor things they’d realise how absolutely slept upon Mark Ruffalo’s performance is.
Incredibly rare to see friendship captured so well on film. Not protecting themselves at all from the other, just being genuine. Especially around that 20 minute mark.
Mark telling RDJ he has nothing to prove to anyone was just beautiful. Wow, what a huge conversation filled with heart and genuine care. ❤
The first think I always see in Mark R. is his warmth. The kindness. With Robert D., it's the strenght of a survivor. Both wonderful, very talented people.
Mark blushing at Downey's compliments and praise is adorable 🥰
The Actors on Actors where the two have been co-stars either once before and reunite or multiple times and are good friends are always the best ones to me cause it feels more like we’re just watching a regular conversation than an interview.
RDJ didn't just start the MCU but you can see he inspired the other actors , attracted them to the projects, and then got them all going and wanting to be on their A game. Thank you RDJ - that run where each MCU movie after another kept amping up the hype train was some of the best movie going experiences I can remember at the theater
7:45 For just a brief moment you can see the pain in Downey's eyes, staring off into the distance, looking past Ruffalo, slightly trembling as he thinks about his father... You can just see how much deep routed pain he feels inside. He's been through so much yet he has become a man who so so many people love, admire and respect. He's so funny, so kind, so loving, so talented and so incredibly humble. I don't respect a lot of celebrities but I respect him so much for the person who he is. He is a hero both on and off the big screen. He does not look down on others because he knows what it's like to be at your lowest point, to hurt, to feel broken. RDJ is and Ruffalo are the types of people that we should all strive to be like.
When RDJ refers to Pattinson as a "younger peer"... An icon who practices professional courtesy indiscriminately. Love it!
The mark of a deep friendship between two people is when they don't have to hyper-act around each other. I love that RDJ is his true self with Mark, not having to worry about putting a Tony Stark personality when he's with acquaintances, hard relate and love them both.
Not only RDJ complimented Mark Ruffalo, but he also praised Emma Stone and Robert Pattinson, says how much of a film admirer he is. Big fan of both RDJ and MR.
Such an intelligent, empathetic, genuine conversation between two fantastic actors and people. Really great episode.
"Strong and formidable moral psychology" made me tear up. The way he casually drops the most genuine and beautiful compliment about his friend's character 🥹 it says so much about them both. Warms my heart.
Downey's face at 44:06 absolutely cracks me up. Ruffalo just knows how to make his heart sing.
