It's true in many ways, but sometimes, when you're in a group, and all of a sudden, you are the butt of a hurtful joke and instead of your true friends speaking up for you, they decide to turn on you instead. It's never happened before and it's shocking and you're right. You never forget that awful betrayal. Not by just one friend, but it becomes a mob mentality. BTW, through my life, I have seen this and yes. I am the one who speaks up and stops the bullying. In my opinion, there really are no real friends. Everyone is in it for what they can get. You just have to be super vigilant a d not allow anyone get too close to you. It's not who that will hurt you. It's when. BTW.. I'm 65years old and yeah... Even old people do this to each other. Once a bully, always a bully. Only now, it's hidden underneath their helpless exterior but just as disgusting.
