Thanks for sharing, Joe! I have been in the market for an expansion unit. This was in my top three. I will grab this one. I find myself using the SSL Ch. Strip plug-in a lot. This would complement those mixing tones during recording. Have a safe and productive week. See ya on the next one!
I bought the Octo the day it was released. It’s been used everyday and sounds excellent. The drive modes are subtle but useful enough when you want more grit. Patching to outboard is super easy and all the options with impedances are amazing for getting the right juice to different mics. I never comment on anything online but I just had to agree with you and champion this unit.
I got myself a Quad version because of Joe and it’s incredible. Just like he said extremely versatile.
For most of us, all you need is a good mic, like a 103, going into nice pre with transformers, like an ISA One, or a BAE1073. All cheap tube pres are garbage, don't take the bait., transformers. Everything else in the box.
I may add the octo to the home studio this year to go along with the SSL 18 interface. That seems like a killer combo!
I like SSL gear. Octo Pre is on the shopping list.
I watched Andrew masters tour of this guys studio and it is phenomenal
It’s great, totally worth it and doesn’t break the bank
SSL is so epic
master
I want the SSL summing sound as if i ixed on an SSL..do you think these new interfaces or Big 6 will gove that being that they dont make the Sigma or nothing like it for SSL summing
Even legit engineers… shill out
No Fairchild compressor?
There’s a whole console behind you, why do you need to use external pres?
Can’t believe they didn’t put polarity reverse on an 8 channel unit.
Pink cocain?
Great video shot.....There it is where we can t see it. Dumb all day. I hope you mix better than film
