@venventure

am at the origins awakening dlc and tbh i really love it. so glad i didnt skip it ! great video.

@oliverl.9004

The real question is: should you play Veilguard??

@willpianista

DA Origins combat is still great if played like a cRPG (Baldus Gate 1&2, Pillars of Eternity 1 & 2, Pathfinder KM & WOTR, to name a few). It's impressive how it aged well. However, if played with a controller then it will feel quite dated.

@raoniluna4091

Dragon Age comes from a lineage of D&D based cRPG, it was sold as a spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate and also a natural evolution to Neverwinter Nights. Dragon Age Origins combat is by far the best for those who played the previous Bioware games, BG, NWN and KOTOR (Knights of the Old Rebuplic). It was never meant to be fluid, in fact it was way too dynamic compared to what it is supposed to be, Bioware fans at the time said it was too much MMORPG. Unfortunatly combat went more and more towards the action direction, which makes people, in retrospective, feel like DAO combat was clunky, slow and all kinds of bad, but that is not true it is just misinterpreted as an awful kind of action RPG where it is actually a too dynamic RTWP (the combat style Bioware have been using since Baldur's Gate). Bioware sold Origins wrong and kept on making the same mistake on the franchise trying to keep the cRPG legacy but adding more and more dynamic combat till it finally called itself action RPG now in the Veilguard. This mistake not only frustrated fans both old and new but made it clear the franchise had an identity crisis. Focusing on Thedas and its characters is not an option, is the ONLY way to enjoy the games, because anything else you decide to love wil probably be gone in the next installment. I loved the combat in Origins, fuck me, I loved the bard specialization, fuck me, I loved out of combat skills like pickpocketing, fuck me, I loved how stats really mattered and allowed diversity to my character build, fuck me. Same if you loved specific characteristics from DA2 or DAI. So if you can focus solely on the worldbuilding and your relationship with the characters, great franchise, if you care about anything else, skip all four. DA franchise is best enjoyed (less frustrating) if you approach it as an "interactable/make your choice" movie.

@TallAndThin123

i can only get inquisition via ps store so am probably gonna read about the other stories then play it then im def gonna play veilguard cos it looks really good

@sonnenblumefrau2048

Despite starting with Origins, my number one favorite is Inquisition. I especially love the fact that in Inquisition, you can revive your companions if they die.

Couldn't do that in Origins and 2.

Despite the huge hate Veilguard is getting, I'm still going to play it. It would have to be "Men In Black PS2 movie game" bad for me to hate it. I don't get disappointed video games so easily compared to most people.

One of the things I like is you can DODGE attacks, something you could never do in the previous three games. Another thing is rather than running around to keep up with companions every five minutes, they have a lantern that comes on if they need something.

If I enjoyed the past three games, I will enjoy Veilguard.

@zunjin

I really hoped I could skip Inquisition. Guess I have to through it anyway. Thanks for the video nontheless

@justsarahyt

Will I be able to import my previous game choices into Veilguard? Like using that dragon age keep site? Playing through the old games now. Thanks!

@ericwilliams7945

See my problem is I was literally almost done with inquisition then i got my ps5 and lost my save so i had to start a new playthrough but i just got veilguard on sale and im not gonna finish both playthroughs in time before the next new game i want comes out. Especially considering i might not be able to play everyday.

@Seb00lean

The short version of Inquisition is 100-130? 😮

So to recap shortest paths:

DA:O: main Story + Morrigan quest line, Liliana quest line, Alistair up to Lothering to understand Blight, Circle Mage and Red Cliff Quest, Awakening expansion (if you plan on playing DA2), Witch Hunt DLC if you romanced Morrigan

DA2: (skippable if pressed for time - watch summary) otherwise Main Story & Templar / Mages Story line,
Legacy DLC if intending to be experience DA:Inquisition

DA: Inquisition: must play Main Story, Trespasser DLC

@chaselowery7482

Dont play failguard

@OriginsAus-b6r

Yes, especially Inquisitions.

@linitie4898

maybe i will watch a lets play

@ZombieFlowchart

Thanks to your video I discovered that I played Inquisition version witch added DLC, so I now know why there was a subtitles and then I have to play more xD

@jimmah3k932

Play the other Dragon Age games INSTEAD of veilgard

@Danielsworlds

Play DAO and awakening. If you like awakening maybe go on to play da2 but be aware you will be upset with how they handle anders. But stop there and don't touch inquisition because while some of the story can be interesting the game itself is a hollow shell and tries to be a mmo with daily quest rep grinds and timmed missions more than it wants to be an actual single player crpg.

@deadeyedarwin

I enjoyed the combat in Origins, I missed the freedom and options it gave you; I started replaying Origins because of the new game, but now I'm replaying Origins because it's an amazing game.

@anonvoila4883

Spoiler alert it doesnt matter they said there not taking account anything that happened before solas

@Ragnarokk95

The question is not should you play the other games before Veilguard, the question is should you play any other than DAO.
