@harrybee5924

That ending genuinely had me tearing up a little bit. Felt like Matthew McConaughey in that Interstellar meme where he's watching the monitor.

Halo 2 was legendary, the best campaign in gaming history imo. This was a TRUE sequel.

@TheRedKing247

Halo 2 was where the Halo franchise went from being a self-contained sci-fi game to being an epic to rival that of Star Wars or Lord of the Rings. The universe in general is expanded so much upon in Halo 2, with massive factions that backstab and fight each other over ancient superweapons for the literal fate of the universe, with our main protagonists at the center of it all going through their own personal stories of questioning and redemption. The only other game that really come close to the same vibe of literally playing an epic is maybe Half Life 2 considering Anti-Citizen One and onward.

@ApolloniusPavor

Halo 2 is definitely the game that made 12 year old me realize video games could be so much more than just a game. I was so happy to finally convince my mom to get an ‘M’ game. But soon after I got very sick and missed the next 7 months of middle school. It was a painful experience, physically, mentally, and emotionally, and day to day life was genuinely traumatizing. This was early 2005, so there was no YouTube, no streaming shows, and reading hurt my eyes at that time, as did basically any real source of light. Basically, I had very little to look forward to when I woke up in the morning and a lot to dread. The short time I could play Halo 2 in my darkened living room each day meant the world to me, for most the same reasons as you described so well. I could play it then talk about the characters with my family because it was a real story not some BS campaign so many shooters throw together. When my friends would visit after school, we’d play multiplayer. I was a screenlooker, admittedly, but I was going through hell so I sometimes got away with it. And the music… This comment would be an essay if I fully explained how much Marty’s music means to me to this day. Halo 2 is far and away the most nostalgic I could ever be for any piece of media and I couldn’t be happier to have such strong memories about such an amazing game.

@Woolie

during my first playthrough as a kid, I remember hating going back to the Arbiter - I just wanted to play as the Chief, gosh darnit!

but as time went on and my brother and I completed our 2nd, our 3rd, our 4th playthroughs, the Arbiter's storyline started appealing more & more to the point where I'm almost as-attached to his character as I am to Chief's.

(that... and I was the younger brother lmao)

@aegg8649

You deserve more subscribers this production quality is incredible

@demanrunner847

Ilove the factthat Lapen Luder get's the whole retrospect of each halo games, and describes all about what did and didn't work within Halo games, and yes Halo CE, 2 and 3 are collossal achievements within Gaming History.

@3thndv155

Been playing Halo since 2001; I'm an OG fan. Halo 2 is still the greatest in the series for me. I think Halo 2 is still the golden standard in shooter campaigns and can even make the argument that it's the golden standard of storytelling for all gaming genres. It really became the Star Wars of the gaming space and changed the way the public viewed gaming back in the day. It's impact was that strong. I'm fanboying but idgaf lol the GOAT for me.

@ShreddedNerd

Halo 3 next?

@Juicyman151

That last minute or so is fantastic. Using sacred icon suit 2 so perfectly.

@faxinspace

Halo 2 was what brought me into the franchise as well. I'd sneak out of my room to watch my dad and his friend play it, and when they found out i was watching them play, dad did something extremely cool. Instead of punishing me, i found a brand new xbox loaded up with a copy of Halo 2 on christmas morning a month later
It was incredible
Ive been a huge fan of halo since, and Halo 2 holds a really big, special place in my heart

@richardbriley8072

That outro montage was so damn good it almost brought a tear to my eye. You've somehow expressed all the hype and childhood nostalgia I have towards this game but couldn't put into words.

@ryanwillis2513

1:09 wow gives me chills that he predicted the future so well

@kelvooka

So glad Marty shouted out your content. Glad to be a part of this great journey exploring the Halo series :')

@quincygaming9529

Your description of playing halo 2 for the first time is an exact mirror of my experience of halo 3. What a magical series

Actually your whole analysis is eerily similar to my experience

@justintheegrey

Look at you. Giving me more reasons to infinitely love this series even more. New sub.

Edit: I’m holding back tears man. Good shit.

@LongPham-CAN

Dude you earn my subscription, what an excellent review

@theseventhcolumn9827

I bought a Limited Edition copy of Halo 2 last month even though the steel case was rusted to all hell. I may have missed the releases of the original trilogy by months and sometimes years but that won’t stop me from collecting these masterpieces.

@WackaMei

That montage at the end killed me. You captured it perfectly. Loved the video.
