@klikscreen

Thank you so much for all the support on this video!! šŸ™
Reading your opinions, feedback, and what I could’ve explained better has been really helpful—and honestly, kinda fun too. I don’t think I’ll be making another essay-style video anytime soon, but I’m really glad you enjoyed this one.
Seriously, thank you!! ☺

Short answer: no

To clarify for people asking in the comments: In generative AI (ChatGPT, Copilot, etc), the system is trained on lots of data scraped from the internet, so that it can turn a short prompt into a much more complex and unpredictable output. However, vocal synths that use AI (SynthV AI, Vocaloid 6, etc) aren't generative AI; almost all of the control is still up to the artist, and the AI model is just a different way of producing the result. Rather than piecing together recordings like a traditional voicebank, an AI voicebank "learns" how the voice provider pronounces different phonemes in different contexts, and applies that to the artist's input. Cross-language synthesis uses combined data from multiple voice providers to "guess" pronunciations for phonemes that aren't in the original data. Unlike current generative AI, all of the data used to train AI voice synths comes from voice providers who were paid for their work.

Edit: Okay, I guess I should clarify that machine-learning vocal synths are technically generative AI, in that they generate new data beyond what the user put in. However, they're a lot more guided and predictable than what people usually mean when they talk about "generative AI", where the user types in a prompt and gets a mostly random result.

@haxz8625

I still remember when they asked "Is Vocaloid an Anime?"

Feels old man... How time have flies...

@euleletsplay

for the ppl who don't wanna watch this for some reason : it's not ai, someone just recorded samples and it's like a frankenstein of samples with melody.

@MiniMasterGG

Where did this rumour come from for miku or other vocaloids. It came out in 2007 or earlier before AI was strong enough to make music.

@mkjullia

I thought people knew that vocaloid wasn't AI I thought we established that also I really love this video it's so good it thought me a lot of things that I didn't know beforeā¤

@IAmTheTallyHallFanInYourCloset

This explains the difference between vocaloid and ai perfectly

@Fifasher2K

Maybe I'm weird, but I prefer non-AI vocaloid over AI one.

@broski7792

I think its important to make the distinction that yes, SynthV and Vocaloid 6 ARE AI. But that doesn't mean it's unethical or replaces human work, and its a good example of why we shouldn't demonize the term "AI", just the unethical usage of AI.

@remy120

what makes our current popular use of AI bad?
- it steals from other people to generate something "new"
- nobody it steals from is compensated in any way
- it uses a ton of resources, like water and electricity, which is greatly increasing the effects of climate change and is overall negative for the environment
- using it requires little to no skill
- takes away from people with real skill, due to corporations discovering real people have to be paid and AI doesn't

vocaloid?
- 99% not AI, and if there is use of AI it's used minutely and is optional, and has only been a recent development of the software
- doesn't steal, as the voicebanks are recorded with permission, and even the use of AI has been given permission
- the real life singers are compensated for their work
- doesn't use a ton of resources, infact doesn't use any resources at all other than a teeny bit of electricity from your PC
- requires skill to use
- many vocaloid producers have been able to make a financial living off of their work due to youtube monetisation and other music streaming, and some have gotten so popular they've been taken on by licensing!

@Absbor

...we ought to flood the internet with this knowledge.

@RayRedspark

I loved the concert recording at the end, I think Miku and the singer performing together really represents how vocaloid works. Not meant to replace, but to be a part of and help create something beatiful :)

@LeoGoofyBoy

i watched this video expecting a large youtuber but only 78 VIEWS AND 694 SUBSCRIBERS!? Holy hell you are underrated

@ceoofkrankenwagen

Vocaloid is YTP applied to music

@Walker_152O61

4:36 wait is that-
4:38 YEEEEESSSSH ADOOOOOOOOOO

@becausetophatt

a vocaloid voice is basically a synthesizer effect that sounds like a voice

@NaraSherko

1:13 i use bandlab for making sprunki mods

@A-200lol

In my opinion, I see when I see a voicebank with the word ā€œAIā€ in it, I think it as a multilingual voicebank and uses ai to help you tune it

@miawo77

THANKYOU i swear most ppl i know that dont know wtf hatsune miku is kept saying i only listen to ai music UGHHH ITS NOT AI
