The Way to the Dawn being an evolution of the Soul Eater is how I always saw things as. So this pretty much confirms it.
Always loved how Way to Dawn incorporates all the old design elements from the original, just adding in an angel motif to contrast and balance things out. Great representation of Riku's arc
You can also see that the kingdom keys colors are more fitting to rikus outfits the gold silver and blues. The funny part is that the way to dawns colors fit sora really well with the blue red and whites.
Remember the hype days in 2014 where we actually got to play as Riku in dream drop distance but was much more fledged out.. as a kh fan we went wild for that
Riku first used the phrase "Way to the Dawn" at the end of COM/Re:COM. He was describing his path of atonement after using Darkness throughout KH1 and COM/Re:Com.
Always saw Way to the Dawn as Riku's acceptance of using his dark powers for the side of Light. Instead of utilizing darkness out of jealousy of Sora or fearing his dark powers as he did in Chain of Memories, he learns that Light or Darkness is just magic, but the person controlling it is the true hero or villain. So instead of being afraid of darkness, he can just utilize it for the greater good and be a hero in his own right.
So similar to Axels chakram transforming into a keyblade? Pretty cool!
He had the coolest keyblade, and the creators traded it for a dripless car key
I really needed this video, but i guess this means he can turn it back into Soul Eater since he does that in one of the first scenes in ddd. It's also crazy how he suddenly has way to dawn in that one kh2 cutscene, and they never acknowledged it
What i find interesting is that sometime between Sora's second visit to Land of Dragons and reuniting at The World That Never Was Soul Eater turned into a Keyblade. It makes me wonder if at this point of the game conditions were met to become a Keyblade bc for a good chunk of the game Soul Eater remains unchanged and nothing was hinted or implied that even Riku knew it wouod happen
i thought that was obvious with how it looked like soul eater but i guess some people need it explained.
thats a really cool idea, of a dark weapon turning into a Keyblade. Now I just need to know how in the hell he obtained Destiny's Embrace so he could give it to Kairi
I got this keyblade for my son for Christmas. Its his favorite one. Mine is "The Two Become One"
I always figured it was a transformation given the details of Way to the Dawn; however, it would be such a cool moment if at one point he was pushed to use both at the same time.
Way to the Dawn is my favorite Keyblade and it perfectly encapsulates Riku's journey and Riku himself, having both angel and demon wings to symbolize light and darkness. To those who don't know, Riku's story in Chain of Memories is about him fearing the darkness inside him after the events of KH1, and learning to not fear, but embrace the darkness without becoming a slave to it, as he was an unique creature in the verse capable of wielding both light and dark. And in the end of his story mode in CoM he has this talk with DiZ: Riku: "What are you making me choose now?" DiZ: "Between the road to light and the road to darkness" Riku: "Neither suits me. I'm taking the middle road" DiZ: "Do you mean the twilight road to nightfall?" Riku: "No. It's the road to dawn"
You dont understand just how happy seeing this video pop up made me feel
KH weapons tend to evolve over time. The Wayfinder Trio's keyblades all end up reaching a superior version by the end of their respective journeys
Coolest Keyblade in the entire franchise.
The way to the dawn is probably my favourite keyblade. That and Riku is probably one of the most human characters, he was meant to be the chosen one, the hero, but fell to temptation. Riku then worked long and hard to redeem himself.
