"The stakes could not be higher." I mean, it's the semi-finals, so they could probably be at least a little bit higher.
My favorite part is when Riley says "Was that the right play?" Even HE didn't know for sure. But ultimately, the decision etched this match into the history books.
I remeber watching this live, and the twitch chat instantly was filled with question marks. Then someone was like "hes playing against the bloodmoon", and slowly we all realized how big brain the play was as tord spent the next 5 min looking for jamming tower. Such a great game
Babe wake up, zugzwang in Pokemon TCG just dropped
i was procrastinate my finals study to watch this match live, and oh boy, i did not regret my decision.
Tord was just acknowledging the heck out of it after he figured out what happened. Stunning scenes. The amount of skill in the game is still growing!
Truly one of the craziest tournaments ever. All 3 age divisions had crazy storylines, but this moment in Top 4 was the most heads-up play I’ve ever seen.
The tactical pass.... instead of playing for the win, force Tord to HAVE the win...
So glad I watched this live. Everyone figuring out the implications of what Riley had done felt like an anime moment.
Training my English to better understand TCG strategy play! fortunately i`ve understood almost 100% about your video. Thank you! It`s hard to found content like this, I miss a lot
Gardevoir so busted it wins by doing nothing
The Only Winning Move is Not to Play. Man, high level Pokemon never ceases to impress me hahaha.
This is why blood moon ex is probably the coolest card ever made
I'll never understand why the top-8 of pokemon events is timed. At that point you want the best deck, not the person who can manipulate the clock best.
Magic has a similar system when time is called except in a very high stakes game. When you are in top 8 in a huge tournament there is no clock. If the game runs 8 hours, it runs 8 hours.
that was so incredible of a play. now passing will be a more recognized option in ptcg. amazing pass. literally a game-winning pass.
Can we take a second to admire Rhys' chad shuffle to seal the outcome?
My first thought about not moving with Munkidori was, that Tord is on Munki too and would be able to KO Clefairy with those damage counters. This alone said: No Munki movement! The Ursaluna KO option for later turns didn't come to my mind until you mentioned it.
Love the look on Riley's face like "Holy crap, is this really gonna work?" Pretty incredibly to come up with that play, on-the-spot at NAIC. Mad props
