We don't know why, but in the browsers Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Google Chrome, frequencies below 20Hz are distorted and not reproduced correctly. 
The individual sine waves experience strong clipping and become very unclean.

The clipping in the three affected browsers can be somewhat mitigated by lowering the volume on YouTube. However, the sine wave remains very unclean even then!
