Visiting Japan's Top Onsen Town | Authentic 日本

Located about 200 kilometers northwest of Tokyo at an altitude of 1200 meters above sea level, Kusatsu Onsen is a small town nestled in the mountains and one of Japan's most famous hot spring resorts.

Kusatsu is blessed with large volumes of high-quality hot spring water that is said to cure every illness but lovesickness. This small town offers skiing in winter and hiking during the rest of the year to be enjoyed in combination with hot spring bathing.

I am always impressed by the magical atmosphere of Kusatsu, and I do recommend visiting it to anybody who is interested in Onsen and who wants to experience what is considered Japan's no. 1 hot spring town.
