The Brielle Rail Bridge is a bascule bridge over the Manasquan River servicing the NJ Transit North Jersey Coast line between Point Pleasant and Manasquan. Built in 1911, it has only a 48 ft opening for marine traffic. Located at what many consider the most northern point of the Intracoastal Waterway, it is the first bridge you traverse navigating through the Manasquan Inlet to and from the Atlantic Ocean. When the bridge is down for extended periods of time during the summer months, the water on both sides of the bridge can become very crowded. Here is a sample of what it is like to navigate the waterway.
