What if Squidward Was Never Born

You probably think that a world without Squidward would be a happier Bikini Bottom, but it is way more complex than that.
And left me wondering: is Squidward just an irritated character to bring balance to the maniacal SpongeBob and Patrick? Or is his presence holding back a larger evil?
